Brief Historical Overview
The school opened as a junior primary school in January 1962, offering Grade 1, 2 and 3 in Afrikaans, English and German mediums.

In June 1969, the school became a fully-fledged Afrikaans medium primary school. By 1972, construction was completed, including the school hall, library, science laboratory, three classrooms, a woodworking room and music rooms.

In 1974, the Grade 7 classes were moved to the high school but were reintegrated into primary school in 1993.

In 1978, Walvis Bay and its enclaves, including the school, were taken back by the RSA and the school once again fell under the Cape Education Department.

The first pre-primary classes began in 1982 and continued until 1995. In 2001, Wallies Pre-Primary was established as part of Walvis Bay Primary School.

In 1990, the primary school became a Model C School with a management board.

In 1993, Walvis Bay Primary School and Laerskool Hoogenhout merged to form Walvis Bay Primary School.

In 1994, Walvis Bay was reintegrated into Namibia and in 1995, so were the schools.

As owners of the school grounds and buildings, parents decided in 1995 to operate as a state-subsidized private school, managed by a board of eight directors. With re-registration in 2003, parents chose to maintain this status.
